Tasting Note: Ayala Brut Majeur NV
Light and fruit driven, this lovely little Champagne is from Ayala, a house now owned by Bollinger. On the nose are scents of fresh red apples and faintest whiff of honeysuckle, which follow on to an elegant palate of slightly honeyed, mouthwatering apple flavours.
However, the main thing this Champagne reminds me of is apples picked fresh from the orchard, sliced and covered with a dusting of sugar. Slightly tart and slightly sweet. It used to be one of my favourite things in autumn.
